Who is Rubio Monocoat?

Rubio Monocoat provides environmentally friendly oils for both interior and exterior wood preservation. With 0% Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and strong environmental credentials to support it, Rubio Monocoat represents the future of wood staining and protection.

Founded in Belgium, the company has grown into a global leader. In 2000, it pioneered an oil based using revolutionary molecular bonding technology, developed by Dr. George Barrell. This innovation has been central to Rubio Monocoat’s success and today, it’s the very technology behind Naturewall’s Oiled SlatWall Panel Collection.

How does Oil technology work

Molecular bonding is at the heart of our new oiled wall panels — but what does that actually mean? In short, it’s the process of the oil binding directly to the fibres of the wood veneer used in our panels.

Within minutes, the oil bonds with the upper microns of the wood, removing the need for film formation or saturation. This innovative technology means the wood is fully protected with just a single layer.

Olivia Newman, Socal Media Manager at Rubio Monocoat, explains: “The one-layer system avoids overlaps and marks, delivers low consumption with long-lasting protection, and preserves the natural look and fibre structure of the wood.”

When combined with the real wood veneer used in our panels, the oils create a smooth, refined finish that not only protects but also amplifies the natural beauty of the wood. It also allows us to offer a wide assortment of fashionable real wood colours to suit almost any popular interior design theme.

This protective finish makes the Enriched Oiled SlatWall panels the perfect fir for a diverse amount of spaces, from kitchens halways bedrooms and living rooms.
