The BBC’s multi-award-winning DIY SOS recently partnered with Naturewall to renovate a beloved Yorkshire community centre, located only minutes away from the Naturewall factory. Led by Nick Knowles and his team, the project has transformed The Cherry Tree Community Centre (CTCC) in Beverley, East Yorkshire, which has acted as a hub for local people since 1993. Six years ago, CTCC launched a youth club that quickly became a lifeline - offering hot meals, hygiene packs, job application support, and a safe place for children to connect.
When the pandemic hit, the space was repurposed into a food pantry that now supports over 150 families every week. While essential, this change left the club without a home. For nearly five years, more than 90 young people aged 10 to 17 - and their dedicated staff - have carried on outdoors, meeting under a gazebo in Mudhills Park.
All this changed with DIY SOS!
