Jack Kinsey: Why I Fell In Love With Dark Oak SlatWall

We've recently partnered with the supremely talented Jack Kinsey to help him realise his dream garden office. As part of this bold and beautiful project, Jack chose our extremely popular SlatWall Grand Acoustic Dark Oak Panel - one of the standout designs available in our new Enriched Oiled SlatWall Panel Collection. In this blog, we’re catching up with Jack to learn what drew him to this particular finish.

What is the Enriched Oiled SlatWall Panel Collection?

In short, the Enriched Oiled SlatWall Panel Collection is a specially curated selection of premium wall panels made using real wood veneers with a premium oiled finish. These eye-catching panels capture the unique character and charm of a wood’s grain, using Rubio Monocoat oil technology to add further visual appeal while better protecting the panel’s finish.

Whilst the perfect choice for adding a lasting warmth and natural energy to a space, these panels are also specially designed to add significant acoustic benefits. As a result, these are the ideal option for living rooms and media walls, bedrooms, home offices and home recording or podcasting spaces.

Adding warmth and depth with Dark Oak Panels

In any home office - be it in the home or the garden - concentration is everything. Continuing the nature-inspired aesthetic of his home, Jack reimagined his garden room as a serene yet invigorating retreat. Featuring a carefully chosen assortment of lush greenery with intelligent storage and refined modern finishes that set the tone, this was always going to be a space where even the smallest of details really mattered.

For Jack, it was important to find a panel that complemented his home’s style - and the deep, expressive nature of SlatWall Grand Acoustic Dark Oak Panels delivered exactly that. Offering a rich colour and a premium quality finish, the panel provided the perfect match for Jack’s vision.

Jack said, “As a designer, I am always looking for materials that feel authentic and have that natural touch. I chose the Dark Oak Grand because I was instantly drawn to the warmth and depth of the tone. The grain really stands out and it gives the space such a grounding, cosy feel.”

And the results speak for themselves, now complete, Jack’s garden office is a relaxing yet mindful extension of his home, ideal for nurturing the creativity that drives his future projects.

Why Jack partnered with Naturewall

At Naturewall, we’re not only proud to manufacture and supply the finest wall panels on the market, we’re also delighted to help people across the UK realise their interior design dreams.

When asked why he picked to work with Naturewall, Jack said,

“Naturewall stood out to me because of their attention to detail, the quality of their finishes and the fact they are handcrafted here in Yorkshire.

Building on his comments, Jack spoke further about what drew him to Naturewall in his latest home office reveal. “What I love about Naturewall is the abundance of choice and the fact that it’s all made here in the UK. I picked the much warmer tone of Dark Oak and ran it straight from the floor up and over the ceiling. I love the warmth and the wood grain that comes through — it makes the space feel cosy, warm and inviting, even through winter.”

He also highlighted the practical benefits that helped shape his decision. “This space floods with so much natural sunlight and the last thing I wanted was the woodwork to get bleached — which is a good thing, because Naturewall preserve all of their veneer with natural oils.” The oiled finish not only protects against UV fading but also adds durability, ensuring the panels stay beautiful for years to come.

Jack went on to mention the acoustic performance of the panels, which makes them ideal for his home office. “Another added benefit to Naturewall’s SlatWall panels is the acoustic properties. This is my home office, so obviously I want to be able to work in peace, and the felt backing helps to deaden that noise.”

Alongside the practical benefits, it was also important to Jack to work with a brand that shared his values. He shared, “I also love the idea of supporting a British brand. Yorkshire people are always so friendly and kind and I love to visit the area, so it really feels like I am supporting an honest, local company. I also love that the panels not only look great, but help with acoustics too, which makes them as practical as they are beautiful. It felt like the perfect partnership, a company that really cares about design, quality and sustainability, which are all values I share.”
